Spanish Tip of the day:
Beware of False Friends!
When learning a language, cognates become your best amigo. What are cognates? Cognates are words that have the same meaning, and look the same in two different languages.
Examples: Alcohol = Alcohol, Falso = False, Ofender = Offend…you get the idea.
Now, all is good and fun with these cognates until they become your amigo falso (false friend), such as Embarazada, which actually  means pregnant, not ‘embarassed’!
Other FALSE FRIENDS:
Sensible = Sensitive, sensible
Éxito = Success, exit
Actual = Current, actual
Asistir = To Attend, assist
Atender = To Serve/ To Take Care Of, attend

On a recent sunny spring day, while wandering the streets of Buenos Aires, searching for a café where I could sit outside at a table and sip an espresso while looking at the passers-by (a popular Argentine custom), I detoured into a bookstore.
