And we also like them right back! I am really liking all of these Top 10 lists that we are being included into! This holiday season we were published in La Nación, Clarin, Elle, Viva, Joy Magazine, The Urban Grocer, BAFoodies, The Landing Pad, and we even made it to a hard cover book by Narda Lepes. Now we made it to YoQueVos, which by the way I really, really love how they manage to find so many unique stores, gifts, foods, entertainment, etc. Amongst all of their unique finds …

In Argentina, we have something called dulces, which resemble a solid form of jelly or jam. The two main flavors, are membrillo or quince, and batata or sweet potatoes. My all time favorite is dulce de batata. This paste-like sweet jelly is used mainly as a filling for pastries or a pie called pastafrola. Another great way to eat it as sliced, accompanied with fresh cheese.
While surfing the web, I ran across a great post about dulce de batata. Published by Rebecca of From Argentina With Love, don’t miss her …

Next Sunday is Mother´s day in Argentina. Celebrations are usually centered around sunday lunch. Whether it is a family asado or homemade pasta, these options usually have mom working in some way or another.
My favorite way to treat my mom on Mother´s Day is to take her out for lunch, providing the perfect opportunity to try something new. Restaurants throughout Buenos Aires are packed with reservations for this upcoming Sunday, October 17th, so planning ahead of time is key. A few spots that have prepared a Mother´s Day Menu will …

Back in September 2009, Planet Joy gave us a rundown of their top 12 bakeries in Buenos Aires. Today I want to highlight my top 3. Buenos Aires is filled with incredible bakeries that are not mentioned in this post or in the Planeta Joy article. I will be highlighting those which I have experienced personally and that I find noteworthy. Panaderias are the go to spot for baguettes, to medialunas, to delicate cookies, basically the place Argentine’s go for their carb fix.

So it seems that we are still in the game. Argentina’s victory to South Korea at 4 to 1 has me thinking of World Cup games and delicious game snacks to commemorate our victory. The first one to highlight is the churro. Churros come to Argentines from their Spanish heritage, but only argentines have had the insight to fill them with dulce de leche!
Vamos Argentina!
