Local replacement for Cayenne Pepper, courtesy of Yanqui Mike and more
For all the you spicy food lovers out there, take a hint from Yanqui Mike to get your cayenne pepper fix in Argentina. Check out his latest post on powedered locoto pepper.

Other option for some heat in BA are the Italian peperoncino flakes found in the spice section of large supermarkets or deli’s such as El Queso, Queso or Valenti.

Another option is aji puta pario which translates to “mo-fo pepper”, due to the expression that rolls of the toung after tasting. (photo featured). These tiny red peppers can be found at verdulerias (greengrocer) as singles or the actual plant at your local vivero (plant nursery).
