Donigan Merritt was born in southwest Arkansas in 1945. He has worked as a journalist, scuba diver, fishing boat captain, and university professor. He has a BA and MA degree in philosophy and an MFA in Creative Writing from the Iowa Writers Workshop.
Currently living in Buenos Aires; with his diplomat wife has lived in Central Europe, South Africa, and Germany.
